General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

What is GDPR?

GDPR is a new EU regulation with regard to the protection and security of personal data held by businesses (including schools). GDPR is concerned with the storage, controlling and processing of personal data relating to employees, students, parents, customers etc. Personal data held by businesses pose significant risk if stolen, destroyed, lost, altered or disclosed without authority: accidentally or unlawfully. The new GDPR regulations come into force on 25^th May 2018 and failure to comply with the regulations will result in substantial fines, 4% of annual global turnover or 20 million euros.
